Police: Man found dead in South San Jose was homicide victim

San Jose Mercury News official website:
Here's the link.

I picked this particular essay because the title caught my eye rather quickly. Homicide is a very touchy subject and when it hits pretty close to home, it scares the hell out of me. I've had family members pass away peacefully and that always got to me but I've never had to lose a family member to a homicide. That would be too much for me to bear.

Just as the title explicitly says, the article states that a man was found dead but not just from natural causes, the man was victim to a murder. The poor man's name was
Fisaha Isaac Gebremichael and he died at the very early age of 25. The man died to a gunshot and it's known that no gangs were involved in the killing.

The essay was really easy to analyze because everything is said so clearly. From chapter 14, I took a quotation from the step by step process. This is step 1: "What are the piece's purpose, audience, and context?" The piece's purpose is simple: to inform the people that a citizen of San Jose was found dead by the police. The audience is the people of San Jose or whoever reads the San Jose Mercury News. The context is that killing is bad and people should not die due to violence like that. This helped me understand that the essay played on my emotions because I can't stand seeing stories of death. The essay got to the point quickly and shortly and did the job very well.
